Q. What is Wireless Number Portability (WNP)?A. Wireless Number Portability allows you to keep the same mobile, home and/or business phone number when switching service providers within the same local area. Q. When can I transfer my number?A. Q. Do I need to cancel my current phone service before switching to TBayTel?A. To transfer your number, it must be active. However, upon transferring your number to TBayTel, service for your phone number with your current service provider will be automatically cancelled. You may be obliged to pay any early cancellation fees and outstanding balances to your current service provider. We suggest that you review your existing service agreement to find out what fees or charges would apply if you cancel before the end of your contract term. Q. Can I keep my old phone?A. You'll need a phone from TBayTel, but we'll help you choose the right phone for you to enjoy all the great features and cool services we offer. . Q. Can I switch to TBayTel before the end of my current service agreement?A. Yes, but you may be obliged to pay any early cancellation fees and outstanding balances to your current service provider. We suggest that you review your existing service agreement to find out what fees or charges would apply if you cancel before the end of your contract term. Q. How long will it take to transfer my number to TBayTel?A. If you're transferring a mobile phone number from another provider, it should only take up to 2.5 business hours. If you're transferring a landline phone number to a TBayTel wireless account, it should only take up to 2 business days. If your transfer is more complex and depending on your current service provider, it could take up to one week. Q. If I have a family or share plan, do I need to transfer all the numbers in the plan?A. No. You can choose one or several numbers within an account to transfer to TBayTel. Q. Can I transfer my number to or from a PDA or BlackBerry device?A. Yes. Phone numbers can be transferred to and from either of these devices. Q. If I'm already a TBayTel wireless customer, can I transfer a landline phone number to my existing wireless account?A. Yes. For example, you can transfer your existing home phone number to your existing TBayTel wireless account or vice versa. Q. If I have a business pooling plan with another service provider, can I transfer my number to TBayTel?A. Yes. You can transfer your number to TBayTel if you are on a pooling plan, but the rate plan from your previous service provider cannot be transferred to TBayTel. You can select a TBayTel plan that meets your needs.
