Email Setup - OutLook Express IMAP
Setting up an IMAP Account in Outlook Express
1. Open 'Outlook Express'.
2. Click 'Tools' then 'Accounts' from the drop down menu.
3. Click on the 'Add' button in the top right side of the 'Internet Accounts' screen to choose the type of account you would like to create.
4. After selecting the type of account you would like (choose between Mail, News or Directory Service) the setup wizard will pop up.
5. Cursor over the ‘Display name’ Text box and click to begin typing.
6. The next step is to enter your name as you want it to be seen by others (the example name is "John Smith"). After you’re satisfied with your display name, click 'next'.
7. Cursor over the ‘Email Address’ text box and click.
8. After clicking type the email address that was provided to you from your internet service representative. Don’t forget the '@tbaytel.net'. Once satisfied, again, click 'next'.
9. You should see the 'E-mail Server Names' step now. This step will be where you put your internet service provider's (ISP) mail addresses.
10. To make this an IMAP account you have to first select the drop down menu.
11. Next, cursor over the 'IMAP' setting to select it, once selected, click it to make your account an IMAP account.
12. Now that you have selected 'IMAP' you can now enter your internet service provider's mail address. For TBayTel accounts the 'Incoming Mail Server' will be 'mail.tbaytel.net'. The ‘Outgoing Mail Server' will also be ‘mail.tbaytel.net'. After this is complete, click 'next' to move on to the next step.
13. This step asks for your 'Account Name' and password. Make sure that your 'Account Name' is the same as your 'E-mail Address'. Enter your password if you feel comfortable, (this is not recommended if you share your account/Computer). DO NOT CHECK 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)'. After you're comfortable with your settings click 'next'.
14. Congratulations you have finished the setup of your IMAP Account! All you have to do now is click the 'Finish' button to start using your account.
