BlackBerry Support - Disable Data

To avoid data roaming charges when travelling to the US, BlackBerry users may disable their data connection.

Instructions for Turning Off Your Data Connection (BlackBerry 9800 Torch, 9780 Bold, 9300 Curve, & 9100 Curve)

1. Select "Manage Connections" from the Home Screen
2. Select "Mobile Network Options"
3. Scroll down to Data services and select "Off"
4. Press the key and select "Close"
5. Press the key to return to the Home Screen

IMPORTANT – Once you return home:

6. Follow steps 1-2
7. Scroll down to Data services and select "On"
8. Press the key and select "Close"
9. Press the key to return to the Home Screen.

Steps 6 - 9 will ensure you start receiving your emails once you are home.

 

Instructions for Turning Off Your Data Connection (BlackBerry 8230 Pearl Flip, 9530 Storm, 9550 Storm 2, 9630 Tour & 8530 Curve)

1. Select "Options"
2. Select "Mobile Network"
3. Scroll down to Data services and press the trackball/trackpad in and select "Off"
4. Click “Escape” and select "Save"

IMPORTANT – Once you return home:

5. Follow steps 1-2
6. Press the trackball/ trackpad and select "On"
7. Click "Escape" and select "Save"

Steps 5 - 7 will ensure you start receiving your emails once you are home.

 

Instructions for Turning Off Your Data Connection (BlackBerry 8830, 8130 Pearl & 8330 Curve)

1. Select "Options"
2. Select "Mobile Network"
3. Press the roller ball and select "Off"
4. Click “Escape” and select "Save"

IMPORTANT – Once you return home:

5. Follow steps 1-2
6. Press the roller ball and select "On"
7. Click "Escape" and select "Save"

Steps 5 - 7 will ensure you start receiving your emails once you are home.

PLEASE NOTE: This feature is not available for BlackBerry 8703, 7130e, and 7250.
