Tbaytel 4G HSPA+ Network Status
Tbaytel has always been committed to provide the best possible service to our customers. We closely monitor our networks in order to achieve optimal performance and deliver quality service. Ongoing monitoring and testing of our recently launched HSPA Network paired with customer feedback has identified that our HSPA Network is performing well in most areas. However, it has also identified that small groups of customers as well as some specific areas within the City of Thunder Bay are experiencing issues. We are currently working to correct any technical difficulties. Tbaytel's Network engineers along with our Industry partners have been diligently assessing our Network and have developed an action plan for resolution. Additional equipment has been ordered and Network reconfiguration has commenced and will continue over the next few months.

Please be advised that Tbaytel will be performing system upgrades to its 4G HSPA Network in Thunder Bay from Wednesday, May 9th to Thursday, May 17th from 6:00 am to 10:00 am EDT
The following coverage areas will be affected:
- Balmoral
- Burwood
- Court Street
- Lithium
- Main Street
- Neebing
- Riverview
- Rosslyn
- Shuniah (County Fair Area)
- Suncrest Villa (Mariday Park Area)
- Vickers Street
- Walkover
- Wardrope
- Westfort (Mountdale Area)
During these maintenance periods you may experience disruption to your Mobility service.

As we continue to make improvements to our 4G HSPA+ Network, we thank you for your patience and your feedback as we work to improve our service reliability. Work to install second carrier has been completed in the areas of Hardisty, Confederation College and Pinedale. The additional antennas installed at these sites will help to improve coverage capacity and reliability in these neighbourhoods. Tbaytel’s ongoing work to improve the quality of our 4G HSPA+ Network continues.You’ve seen our crews in your neighbourhoods working on improving existing cell sites and adding new locations as we respond to our customers’ needs. We thank you for your patience, your input and your continued support. Tbaytel will continue working to build a 4G HSPA+ Network that meets your expectations for reliability and service, and to ensure we achieve the highest standard for you, our customer.
Tbaytel will be performing maintenance on its cellular network in the Pinedale, Hardisty, and Confederation College coverage areas. Cellular service in the Pinedale area will be temporarily interrupted during the morning of Sunday, November 20th. The Confederation College coverage area work will begin at 8:00am Sunday, November 20th with potential service interruptions to late Monday, November 21st. The Hardisty coverage area work will begin 8:00am Monday, November 21st with potential service interruptions to late Tuesday, November 22nd. In addition, there may be temporary service interruptions in these areas lasting until Wednesday, November 23rd. This work to improve our cellular network is necessary to ensure Tbaytel delivers quality service to you our valued customers. With two new sites launched in the Balmoral & Walkover areas, and the continuing installation of second carrier service, there have been substantial improvements in network performance. A network optimization program will now begin to further enhance quality of service. Work continues in the areas of Hardisty, Confederation College and Pinedale. Work to improve the Tbaytel HSPA+ Network continues this week. The installation of the new Balmoral and Walkover sites has been completed. Antenna adjustments are being made to improve network performance at Riverview, Academy, Main and Court St. sites.
Update as of October 12th, 2011
Work to improve the Tbaytel HSPA+ Network continues this week. Second carrier has been turned up at the Shuniah (County Fair) location. Antennas have been installed at the Shuniah, Vickers and Balmoral locations and monitoring of these sites for service quality is being conducted.
Update as of October 3rd, 2011
As of Friday September 30th, the installation of second carrier has been completed for the sites listed initially, with all sites being turned up with the exception of Shuniah and Burwood. Additional antennas are being installed on all of these sites to improve and enhance coverage and service quality. The installation of two new cell sites continues this week in the Balmoral/Williams St. area and Walkover St. area. Work has begun in the areas of Hardisty, Confederation College and Pinedale and will continue throughout October.

Installation of second carrier has been completed at several core sites. Enhancements to increase network capacity continue this week and may result in short outages. The installation of two new cell sites has begun. These new cell sites will improve service quality in the Balmoral Ave./Williams St. and Walkover St. areas.

Maintenance to Tbaytel’s Cellular Network began yesterday. A second carrier will be added to the listed coverage areas to allow for increased network capacity. Dedicated antennas will also be added to each site to improve reception.

The cellular antenna located on Academy Towers was moved to an alternate location on the building and has been re-positioned to improve signal strength and decrease interference in the Roland St. area.
