Learn more about your Fibre Optic Terminal

This article is an overview of the types of Fibre Optic Terminals thatmay be installed and what the lights and ports are.

The lights on this fibre terminal light up orange and mean the following:

  • Power - Once booted up this light should be solid orange. If it is flashing then the terminal is running on battery power and internet and TV services will stop working to preserve battery life for phone services in the case of an emergency. If this light doesn’t go solid orange, call Technical Support 807-623-4400.
  • CPU - This light will light up orange once the terminal has booted up.
  • WAN - This light should be solid orange once the terminal has booted up. If this light is not on this indicates thatsomething wrong with the fibre optic connection, call Technical Support 807-623-4400.
  • Phone - If you have phone services this light will light up orange once the terminal is booted up. If you have one phone number it will be programmedto PHONE Port 1. If you have a second number it will be programmed to PHONE Port 2.
  • LAN 1-4 (On the back) - In a typical residential setup, only LAN port 1 is used and shouldlight up orange (and flashes as data is transmitted).

The lights on this fibre terminal light up green and mean the following:

  • Power - This light will go solid green once the terminal has booted up.
  • Broadband - This light will go solid green once the terminal has booted up. If this light doesn't come on, call Technical Support 807-623-4400.
  • Service - This light will go solid green once the terminal has booted up. If this light doesn't come on, call Technical Support 807-623-4400.
  • Ethernet - This light will flash green when data is being transmitted.
  • Phone - This light will only come on green if you have phone services.
  • GPON - This is for the fibre optic line. For your own safety do not remove the fibre line from the port.
