Tbaytel Email Setup: Outlook 365

Instructions for setting up your Tbaytel email account in Microsoft Outlook 365

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook 365
    • If this is your first time, you may be prompted to set up an account automatically and can skip to step 2.
    • If not prompted to set up an account, click 'File' at the top-left.
    • In the File menu, click 'Info', followed by 'Account Settings', and then 'Account Settings' (add and remove accounts or change account settings) again.
    • To add an Email Account, click 'New' on the Email Accounts screen.
  2. On the first 'Add an Email Account' screen you're asked if you want to set up Outlook to connect to an email account. Click 'Yes' and then Click 'Next'
  3. On the Auto Account Setup screen, make sure you choose 'Manual setup or additional server types' and click 'Next' again
  4. On the Choose Service screen, select 'POP or IMAP' and click 'Next' again
  5. Fill in your POP and IMAP Account Settings as shown below:
    • Your Name: Usually your first and last name. People who receive email from you will see this as the sender name.
    • Email Address: Your full Email Address
    • Account Type: IMAP (best when using multiple devices like a desktop, laptop, smartphone, tablet, etc.)
    • Incoming mail server: mail.tbaytel.net (the same as our Webmail site)
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.tbaytel.net
    • User Name: yourusername%tbaytel.net (Note: Use a "%" instead of a "@" when entering your username)
    • Password: The current password for your Email Address. (If you've forgotten your password or need assistance, please give Tech Support a call at 807-623-4400 (Toll Free: 1-800-264-9501) and we can assist you 24 hours a day)
    • Click 'More Settings' down near the bottom-right.
  6. In the Internet E-Mail Settings (More Settings), click on the 'Outgoing Server' tab at the top
    • Make sure 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' is checked.
    • Make sure 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' is selected.
    • Click the 'Advanced' tab at the top.
  7. On the 'Advanced' tab, make sure the settings match below:
    • Incoming server (IMAP): 143
    • Use the following type of encrypted connection: None
    • Outgoing server (SMTP): 587 (instead of 25)
    • Use the following type of encrypted connection: None
    • Click 'OK' when complete.
  8. Back on the Add or Change Account screen, verify the information is still correct, and click 'Next'
  9. After clicking 'Next', Outlook 365 will attempt to test the settings
    • You will need to be connected to the Internet for this to work.
    • Click 'Close' once the test passes or fails. to go back to the previous screen.
    • Make any corrections, and click 'Next' again to test the settings again.
  10. If the test was successful, you should see a screen that says 'You're all set' and you can click 'Finish'
  11. Soon after the account is set up, you should see the account appear on the left side of Outlook, along with your Inbox and other folders

 

View or Change Existing Email Account Settings

  1. Click 'File' up near the top-left corner of Outlook
    • Then click 'Info', followed by 'Account Settings', and then 'Account Settings' again (to add and remove accounts or change account settings)
    • You can also right-click the Email address on the left, above your Inbox, and then click 'Properties'.
  2. Select the Email Account you'd like to view or change, and then click 'Change'
  3. Verify that the settings are all correct and match the earlier instructions on this page. Click 'Next' when done to test and save the settings.
