Tbaytel is Performing 5G Upgrades within the Rainy River Area

Tbaytel will be performing scheduled 5G upgrades in the following areas:

  • October 13 to October 24: New 5G install in Burditt Lake and New Gold Mine.
  • November 3 to November 14: New 5G install in Morson, Dearlock and Berglund.
  • November 17 to November 21: 3G HSPA/Fixed Wireless Internet service networks shut down across all five locations.
  • November 24: Final 3G HSPA/ Fixed Wireless Internet service removal, including a brief 10-min 5G outage at all sites.

During this upgrade period our teams will be working Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am-4:00pm, customers may experience degraded service and intermittent outages of voice, text and data service. Emergency 911 services will remain operational throughout the maintenance window. To minimize disruption, customers are advised to enable Wi-Fi calling if supported on their devices before work begins. Learn more about WiFi Calling (VoWiFi) by visiting tbaytel.net/vowifi.

As part of this upgrade, existing 3G HSPA and Fixed Wireless Internet services will be shut down in these areas. Once the upgrade has been completed, customers using devices with LTE and VoLTE capabilities should not experience any service disruptions. However, customers with older devices that do not support VoLTE calling will lose voice service in the Morson, Berglund, Dearlock, Burditt Lake and New Gold Mine areas.

Customers can visit tbaytel.net/3Gshutdown to find out if they have a VoLTE capable device and to find more information about the upgrade. Alternatively, customers can visit the Tbaytel Authorized Dealer, Sight & Sound Audio Video Unlimited or call Tbaytel Customer Care.
