My email was compromised

If your email was compromised you will want to check a few settings in the Webmail system and update your password.

If your email was compromised you will want to check a few settings in the Webmail system and update your password.

If you have recently received a spam email indicating Webmail is being upgraded and Tbaytel needs you to do an update, please do not continue as it is likely a scam.

If you have clicked a malicious link and entered your personal information, immediately do the below steps.

  1. Go to mail.tbaytel.net

  2. Enter your email address and password and click “Log In”. If you are able to login continue to step 3. If you are unable to login call Tbaytel Technical Support, we can assist with the password reset.

  3. On the left hand side of the screen there are 6 icons, click on the last icon, which is settings.

  4. Click “Password” from the list of preferences and update the password to a new strong password of at minimum 8 characters, containing at least 1 upper case letter, lower case letter, number and special character. Do not use kids names, pets names, birthdays or other information that can be easily found.  Do not reuse a password you have previously used or currently using on another site. Make it unique to your Tbaytel email address.

  5. Once you have filled in your new password click “Save” in the top right corner of your screen.  Once you update the password your account will be re-secured. You will also need to update the password on any other devices you may have your Tbaytel email address setup on.

  6. Select “General” from the list of preferences and check the “Full Name” field.  If it contains something you know you did not enter then your account likely has been compromised.  Update the “Full Name” field to your name and click “Save” in the top right corner of your screen.

  7. Select “Advanced” from the list of preferences and check the section labeled “Forwarding”.  If there is an email address in the text box that you know you did not enter or do not recognize, delete it and click “Save” in the top right corner of your screen.

  8. Select “Message Filters” from the list of preferences and check the right hand side of your screen for any message filters that may have been created.  If you see any filters and know you did not create them hover over the filter and click the trash can that appears to delete the filter.
