What are trouble conditions & how do I fix them?

A trouble condition is an indication that there is something wrong with your security system. Some possible causes of a trouble condition include a low battery, an unplugged wall outlet, an activated tamper switch or a problem with the communicator.

A trouble condition is an indication that there is something wrong with your security system. Some possible causes of a trouble condition include a low battery, an unplugged wall outlet, an activated tamper switch or a problem with the communicator.

When a trouble condition occurs a trouble message or indicator will be displayed on the system's display screen or keypad. In most cases the message will also indicate what is causing the trouble condition, whether it be a tamper switch, an unplugged wall adapter, communication failure or anything else. During this time, the system may periodically beep to alert the user of the situation. The beeping will continue until the trouble condition is acknowledged.

Depending on the panel you have the trouble conditions will be described but not limited to:   Zone Low Battery, System Low Battery, Zone Fault, Failure to Communicate, Loss of System Clock or System fault.

Low Battery Trouble

For a low battery condition; changing the zone's battery will clear that trouble and can be found here:

Zone Tamper Trouble

A Zone Tamper is when the sensor's casing for this zone has been opened and not closed properly.  Most often these occur after a battery change in a sensor as this is when the casing will be opened.  If you have recently changed a battery in one or more of your sensors, reseat their casing to try to clear the issue.

If you need information on how the zone’s casing can be opened & closed - Check out how to resolve Low Battery troubles for the zone in question above.

If issues persist - call Technical Support.

Zone Fault Trouble

A Zone Fault trouble can indicate that the zone is not closed; or a sensor is not functioning properly - verify the zone is clear and secure - if there was smoke that tripped a smoke detector, ensure the area is clear of residual smoke.

If the issue persists, call Technical Support.

Failure To Communicate

The system was unable to communicate with the monitoring station, either during its testing phase or when the system was armed or disarmed.  Check dial tone on the phone line or internet connectivity - if either is out; troubleshooting that will be primary.

Try arming & disarming the system, if the communication failure was a temporary issue; the system should return to a Ready state.

If issues persist call Technical Support

Loss of System clock

If your system experiences an extended power outage where the system battery cannot keep the system active the date & time in the system can revert to the default.  Resetting the date & time in your system will clear this issue - this can be done from the keypad.

Your system manual will have the information for how to proceed.

System Fault

This is a system error and will require a technician to attend to resolve. Please call Technical support.

Tech Support Tip: If you have misplaced your manual for the security system Tbaytel Technical Support can provide you with a PDF copy of the manual via email should you need it.  They are freely available on the internet from the manufacturer of the system’s website.
