My iPhone battery seems to drain quickly, what can I do?

Learn how to reduce power usage on your iPhone.

Typically, a phone battery's (lithium-ion) lifespan is 2 – 3 years, which is about 300 – 500 charge cycles as rated by manufacturers. After that, the battery capacity will drop 15-20%.

Power saver mode

You can put your phone into low battery mode which will limit what the phone does in the background to extend battery life between charges.

  1. Tap on the settings app
  2. Tap on Battery
  3. Toggle Low Power Mode on

Closing unused apps

Leaving apps open in the background will add to battery drain.  Close apps if you are not actually using them.

  1. Scroll up from the bottom of the phone. This will bring up all the apps that are open in the background
  2. Hold the app you want to close and drag it to the top of the screen.

Other tips to help save battery life.

  • Leaving things like Bluetooth on when they are not actually being used will use additional battery power. If you want to get the most life out of a charge, turn off services you are not using.
  • Avoid leaving your phone in hot environments or in direct sunlight which can cause physical damage to the battery.
  • Adjust the brightness of your screen or audio volume to a lower level
  • Unplug your phone once charging reaches 100%. Leaving it plugged in after its done fully charging puts unnecessary stress on the battery
