What is Text with 911 (T9-1-1)?

T9-1-1 is a service for Tbaytel Wireless subscribers who are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing, or speech impaired allowing them to communicate with 9-1-1 call centres via text messages.

T9-1-1 is now available in Thunder Bay. Please note that T9-1-1 is not currently available throughout the entire Tbaytel coverage area. Please check here for an up-to-date listing of where T9-1-1 service is available.

T9-1-1 is a service for Tbaytel Wireless subscribers who are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing, or speech impaired. You must register for the T9-1-1 service in order to communicate with a 9-1-1 call centre in an emergency using text messaging.

If you are not deaf, deafened, hard of hearing or speech impaired, do NOT register for T9-1-1. Communicating through T9-1-1 will take longer than a 9-1-1 voice call because typing takes longer than speaking.

For more information please refer to the T9-1-1 information page.
