If you have static on your Fibre phone line it is likely an issue with a phone, phone jack or internal wiring.

  1. Confirm whether or not there is static on all phones or just one.
  2. If the static exists on all phone sets go to step 6.
  3. If you have static on only one device, the problem is likely the phone itself.
  4. With the handset up to your ear, try wiggling the phone cord to see if the static increases, if it does, the cord will need to be replaced.
  5. You can plug the phone directly into the phone port on the fibre optic terminal. There are two phone ports on some models of the fibre optic terminal (716GE), plug your phone into the port labeled 1.
  6. If you pick up the phone and go off-hook to place a call and there is no static then the problem is with inside wiring or customer owned equipment. You can attempt to repair it yourself or you can have a Tbaytel technician repair it.  If you choose to have a technician fix the issue and you do not subscribe to Wire Care charges may apply.
  7. If you cannot figure out the source of the static call Tbaytel Technical Support at 807-623-4400 or toll free at 1-800-264-9501.

If you have static on your phone line it could be a problem on the outside line or on the inside wiring in your house or the actual phone equipment.

  1. If you have multiple phones or phone sets in your home confirm that the static exists on all phones or just one.
  2. If the static exists on all phone sets call Tbaytel Technical support at (807) 623-4400 for assistance.  In most cases technical support will be able to run a line test to check for any trouble on the connection.
  3. If you have static on only one set and not all of them the problem is likely the phone itself, the phone cord or curly cord on the phone depending on if it is a hard wired set or a portable phone.
  4. With the handset up to your ear, off-hook and you can hear dial tone, try wiggling the ends of the phone cord and curly cord to see if the static gets worse.  If it does then the phone cord or curly cord is going bad and needs to be replaced.
  5. If you cannot figure out the source of the static call Tbaytel Technical Support at 807-623-4400 or toll free at 1-800-264-9501.
