How do I setup WiFi Calling on my Android?

Setting up WiFi Calling on Android devices.

On Android phones you can enable WiFi Calling, allowing you to make and receive calls over a WiFi connection instead of the cellular network. This is useful in areas where you have active WiFi but may not have cellular reception.

To turn on WiFi Calling on Android phones:

  1. Open the Phone app as though you are going to make a call and tap on the three dots in the top right
  2. Select Call Settings
  3. Scroll and then tap the Wi-F Calling switch
  4. If this is the first time you are activating WiFi Calling you will be prompted by a screen explaining the need for an emergency address. You will have to enter a valid Canada Post mailing address as the Emergency Address. The emergency address is where the police, fire and ambulance will dispatch to if you call 911 while on WiFi Calling. It is important to keep the emergency address up-to-date.
  5. You can now place and receive calls on a WiFi connection. For WiFi Calling to work properly your WiFi connection must be a minimum of 512Kbps for uploading and downloading.

If your address is being rejected you can check it online against is the Canada Post Database.

If you are unable to activate WiFi Calling on your Android call Tbaytel Technical Support at (807)623-4400 for assistance.
