I can’t access my recordings on my Legacy TV PVR

What to do when you cannot access your recorded shows or movies.

There are a few things to check when you cannot access recordings on your Tbaytel Legacy TV PVR.

Can at least 1 box playback recordings?

If you are able to access the PVR on at least one of your set top boxes (STB), it usually means that one or more STB has fallen out of sync with the PVR. To restore PVR access to the STB, it should just need a reboot.

The power button is either on the front left of the box, or a round button on the top right hand corner of the box.

  1. Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds - this will prompt the box to restart. (The reboot process takes approximately 1 minute to get to live TV and an additional minute for recording functions to load up.)
  2. Once the reboot is complete - you can confirm PVR functions are restored by either pausing live TV or pressing the Recorded TV button to view the list of recordings. (Depending on the storage space used, it may take more than one minute to sync once powered up.)
  3. Any other STB can now be restarted by pressing and holding their Power button for 10 seconds.

Do the recordings seem to play but the screen is blank?

We will need to determine if there is an issue communicating with the PVR, or if it is simply a recording that did not record correctly.

  1. Test an older recording
    • If playback is ok - the blank recording may have failed to record, which can be caused by various reasons, such as, recording conflicts, loss of connectivity during the recording period or channel/recording restrictions.
  2. Test a new recording
    • Go out to a live channel and start recording
    • After 1 min of recording check the recorded TV section
    • Test playback - if playback is ok recording functionality is ok
    • Delete the failed recording
  3. Reboot the main PVR if you are still not able to view old/new recordings
    • Locate the PVR - The PVR will have a VIP number of either 2262 or 5662. Once this unit has been found we need to reboot the box. The 2262’s power button is on the front left of the box, the 5662’s power button is a round button on the top right hand corner of the box. Reboot the PVR following the instructions listed above.

Once the reboot is complete - you can confirm the PVR functions are restored by either pausing live TV or pressing the Recorded TV button. Once the PVR is done rebooting you will be able to pause live TV, or view the list of recordings.

  • Depending on the storage space used, it may take more than one minute to sync once powered up.
  • Any other set top box can now be restarted by pressing and holding their Power button for 10 seconds.
  • Test to see if you have access to an older recording - if not call Technical Support at 807-623-4400 or toll free at 1-800-264-9501.
