My TV has low or no volume

Steps on troubleshooting low or no volume on your TV.

There are a few different causes for the audio to be too quiet or seem to not be adjusting properly by the remote control.

First confirm if the issue is isolated to one channel or if multiple channels are affected. If volume is isolated to one channel and the issue doesn’t resolve itself within 10 minutes, call Technical Support at 807-623-4400 or toll free at 1-800-264-9501.

If more than one channel is affected, follow the steps below to check the equipment. There are at least 2 different volumes that are involved in the Tbaytel TV system. The volume on the default TV set and the volume on the set top box (STB).

Set top box volume check

Use the Tbaytel Legacy remote to check where the STB volume is. The STB volume will show as numbers on the right hand side of the TV Screen and it will max out at 25. First, press the STB button at the top of your remote, then press the Volume + button on the remote. The “STB” mode light should light up at the top of the remote and display the volume number on the TV screen.

If the Tbaytel volume is low, it is recommended to normalize the volume by bringing the volume number to 25. If the volume is still too low we now need to bring the default TV volume up to a comfortable level.

If the STB light does not light up on the remote when you press the Volume + button; the remote has been hard set to a device and will need to be set back to universal mode.

To Cancel Volume Lock - on your Tbaytel TV Remote:

  1. Press and hold the Setup button until a mode button blinks twice.
  2. Press the Mute button. The mode button will blink 4 times upon successful unlock.
  3. Try to increase the volume again by pressing the Volume + button.

To Set Volume Lock - on your Tbaytel TV Remote:

  1. Press and hold the Setup button until a mode button blinks twice.
  2. Press the Volume + button.
  3. Press the Mode button that corresponds to the device you wish to control audio.

Tech Support Tip: If you are going to lock the volume control to a device - it is recommended the Tbaytel STB volume be at maximum before this is set.
