Why does my screen look squished

Resizing the TV picture

The aspect ratio will be the largest impact of how your TV will display the picture. Since Tbaytel's TV service is digital, we recommend that you should go with a widescreen (16:9) display. This is recommended aspect ratio for high-definition TV programming; as well as other most modern peripheral equipment used on the tv, including gaming consoles and DVD/BluRay players.

Checking the Aspect Ratio on a TV set

  1. Typically on a TV set remote you will find a button labeled Format or Aspect, or will have an aspect ratio icon similar to this: aspect ratio icon
  2. This will provide a list of Aspect Ratios that you can select. If the format it is set to Zoom or Stretch - this will cause a video that was filmed in 4:3 aspect ratio to be stretched to the 16:9 ratio.
  3. You will want to set the Format to Normal
